Step 1
Make a list of questions that need to be answered in the course of market research. Sometimes entrepreneurs themselves do not know what they need from the market. Written questions will help you better understand the research objectives.
Step 2
Highlight the most important question from the list. The questionnaire will be devoted to him. If other questions are also urgently needed to be answered, create other questionnaires for them. Otherwise, you risk getting confused yourself and confusing people who will answer the questionnaire. Stick to the rule "One marketing research = finding the answer to one question."
Step 3
Write different wording of the main question. You know there are audials, visuals, and kinesthetics. These are people who do not perceive and interpret the same information in the same way. That is, they will not equally understand the question asked. Find details about these types of people if needed. Formulate the same question in different ways to "fit" it to the perception of any person who will answer the questionnaire. Please note - now we are talking only about one question of the questionnaire, which you found in step 2.
Step 4
"Dilute" the received formulations with questions about other events or things. People are usually afraid to give the "wrong" answer to a question. They may lie by answering survey questions to appear smart. Therefore, you must take care that they do not guess what you want to know. To do this, different formulations of your main question must be placed in different parts of the questionnaire, between other questions that are irrelevant and do not interest you at all. This little trick will allow you to get a true picture of the market you are researching.
Step 5
Test the received questionnaire. Select 100 people and have them answer the questionnaire. Analyze their responses. The purpose of the analysis is to find out what wording of questions people do not understand.
Step 6
Make the necessary corrections to the text. Formulate unclear questions differently.
