Your own magazine is a great way to combine creativity and business. You can make money selling ads, or, conversely, turn your publication into a powerful advertising resource for promoting the products that you produce or sell. The publication can be expensive and budgetary, information-rich or containing only advertisements - it all depends on your needs and plans for the future.

Instructions
Step 1
Decide what kind of magazine you want to create. It can be an informational or advertising publication that you will sell, distribute by subscription or free of charge. Such magazines can be designed for both a wide audience and a relatively narrow segment. The second option is preferable, but only if you correctly calculate the volume of the selected sector. For example, a publication addressed to brides or mothers with small children can become more profitable than the next magazine "All for Women".
Step 2
Another popular option is to publish your company's own magazine for presentation or advertising purposes. Such a publication will allow you to significantly save on outdoor advertising. You will be able to print a complete catalog of your products with photos, publish expert articles and other important information about your own product. Such magazines are distributed free of charge, displayed on racks in the company's offices and stores, and given to partners and suppliers.
Step 3
Calculate the future circulation. If it does not exceed 1000 copies, you will not need to register the journal. In other cases, it is necessary to obtain a certificate from the media, which is issued by Roskomnadzor. Submit an application specifying the type of publication, its circulation, and the method of distribution. Attach a notarized copy of your passport to it, and for a legal entity - a copy of the Charter and an extract from the Unified State Register. Pay the fee and wait for the certificate to be issued in a month.
Step 4
Select a release schedule. You can print it monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly. Companies' own magazines usually come out two to four times a year. The frequency of release depends not only on your capabilities, but also on the wishes of future advertisers.
Step 5
Start preparing the first issue two to three months before its release. Form an editorial board. You will need an editor-in-chief, copywriters, layout designer, photographer and proofreader. Some of the employees may work freelance. For the work of the editorial office, rent a room, equip it with computers. The editorial office should carry out photo processing, proofreading of the magazine, its assembly and prepress.
Step 6
If you plan to make money selling ads, hire ad agents to collect ads. Calculate the rates and make a price list. It is customary to sell advertising space in the first issue with substantial discounts. But if your magazine is organized correctly and attracts readers, your income should increase from the second issue.
Step 7
Select the print shop where your magazine will be printed. The higher the printing level, the more expensive printing and paper will cost you. Gather information about large and small printing houses, including those located in nearby regions. Sometimes it is more profitable to print a publication in another city, where printing prices are lower.
Step 8
Consider a distribution system. Freshly printed magazines should not "hang" in your office - they need to be delivered to readers as soon as possible. If you plan to distribute your publication for free, find partners - restaurants, shopping centers, clinics or beauty salons - the choice depends on the subject of the magazine.
