Now in Russia there are two main opportunities to get a higher education - at the expense of budget money and with the help of our own funds - at a paid department. However, not everyone knows that part of the money paid for studies can be returned back in the form of a tax deduction. How can this be done?

It is necessary

  • - an agreement with an educational institution;
  • - passport;
  • - birth certificate, if you pay for the child's education;
  • - receipts for payment.

Instructions

Step 1

Check if you are eligible for this deduction. It can be obtained by people who study at a university or in advanced training courses that have a state license, as well as those who pay for their child under 24 years of age in a full-time program. If the education of a person under 24 is paid for by a sibling or sibling, they will also be eligible for a deduction.

Only those whose income is taxed at 13%, that is, employees, are eligible for a refund of part of the taxes. Individual entrepreneurs pay taxes at a different rate, so they will not be able to get some of their money back.

Step 2

Collect the required documents. Tuition receipts must be provided for the entire tax period. Get a 2NDFL certificate from the accounting department of the organization where you work. Also, if you have not saddled this before, open a bank account in your name, to which the tax office can transfer you the amount to be refunded.

Step 3

Fill out your tax return. Its form can be obtained either from the tax office or downloaded from the website of the Federal Tax Service (FTS). There you can also see a sample of filling. In the column dedicated to the deduction, indicate the amount of payment for education for the entire tax period.

Step 4

After the end of the tax period, that is, from January 1 to April 1 of the next year, submit a declaration to the Federal Tax Service at your place of residence. Come there with all the documents, including the details of your bank account. Also, on the spot, you will need to fill out an application according to the sample that the tax officer will give you.

When your application has been reviewed, your tax refund will be credited to your account.
