The railway is a very important component of the country's transport system. Huge passenger flows and major domestic cargoes pass along the rails. There is no need to doubt its necessity. But how do you build a railroad?

Step 1
Determine what type of railway you will build: the main one, which connects stations or points, the station, where wagons are sorted, trains are sent and received, connecting, etc., or a special purpose track - safety and dead-end-trap for stopping the train in unforeseen situations …
Step 2
Choose the type of railroad track: single-lane, multi-lane or loopback.
Step 3
Conduct an analysis of the terrain: topographic surveys, engineering geodetic exploration and engineering geological. Develop various options for the passage of the paths.
Step 4
Prepare the base for laying the railroad tracks. Build a subgrade that consists of very tightly packed embankments that are well reinforced to minimize external influences. Consider the locations where the various pipes pass.
Step 5
Create a ballast layer for the rails and sleepers. Pour a sand-gravel mixture on the subgrade, which will act as a pillow, and pour crushed stone from hard rocks on it.
Step 6
Place the special cross-plates to which the rails will be attached. Add to these sleepers, which will play a major role in fastening the rails in the absence of special slabs. Place the sleepers on the ballast bed. Thus, the rails will be complete, with minor transitions at the joints. The sleepers will also take on the rail pressure and transfer it to the ballast layer. Please note that the number of sleepers laid per kilometer depends on the congestion of the railroad and its curvature.
Step 7
Place the rails on top of the sleepers and be sure to attach the rail fasteners - an essential element when building a railroad.
Step 8
Build turnouts for multi-lane tracks.
