Research the product you want to sell. Use a variety of dedicated guides to identify antiques, eliminate counterfeits, and price them accordingly.

Calculate expenses such as utilities, telephone, insurance, lamps, shop windows and advertising. Luckily, you can use your antique furniture as pedestals for small items (someone might want to buy an antique dining set on your fine table setting).

Contact your local chamber of commerce, trade association, or the nearest small business administration office for help with paperwork and financial support.
