Sheep breeding is one of the most profitable branches of agriculture. Of course, in order to breed sheep, you need not only desire, but special knowledge. And, of course, the room in which you will keep the animals.
Instructions
Step 1
Rent a piece of land to build a farm or sublease an existing farm. Fill out all the documents necessary for the construction of a new sheepfold on the selected site or for the rebuilding of existing buildings.
Step 2
Calculate the size of the future premises, depending on what kind of farm you are going to equip (commercial or breeding), what kind of sheep you are going to raise, how many heads you plan to keep, and what climatic conditions prevail in your region. Design the internal compartments of the future sheepfold so that the number of animals in each section does not exceed the established norms. In addition, when calculating, be sure to take into account the frequency of lambing of the sheep. Sheepfolds of small capacity are usually built "P" -shaped and "T" -shaped. Sheepfolds of larger capacity have a rectangular shape.
Step 3
Purchase all the necessary building materials and equipment to build a sheepfold. Typically, such rooms are built from precast concrete structures of various configurations, but they can also be built from stone or brick. Please note that the height of the indoor space must be at least 2.4 m from the floor level. The roof is usually gable, the gates are double-winged with a vestibule.
Step 4
Select the type of sheepfold floor (solid, slatted). If the floors are solid, then they should be adobe in stalls and concreted in the aisles. If lattice - then from wooden bars. The width of the slots in slatted floors must not exceed 20 mm.
Step 5
Install windows at least 1 m above the floor. If your region has harsh climatic conditions, then windows are not installed on the northern side of the sheepfold, and the normalized lighting of the room is achieved by additional installation of fluorescent lamps.
Step 6
Install ventilation, feeders and drinkers in the sheepfold. Paint them with paint that is harmless to animal health.
Step 7
Insulate the sheepfold. Lay the walls with hay and straw, sheathe with boards and protective film. Insulate the roof with foam and lay roofing material. The gate must have a non-insulated vestibule.
