Business means any activity that generates income. In the modern sense, business is the economic activity of an entity (businessman, entrepreneur) in market conditions with the aim of generating income through the release and sale of goods, works or services.

Sometimes business is seen as synonymous with entrepreneurship, i.e. initiative activities of citizens and their associations, carried out on the basis of independence and aimed at making a profit, carrying a certain risk and property responsibility.

Business is also a system of relationships between its participants, which include: - businessmen, or entrepreneurs, i.e. citizens who carry out activities at their own risk and economic and legal responsibility. In the course of their work, they enter into relationships with each other, as well as with other business participants, forming an entrepreneurial sphere; - consumers of the products that entrepreneurs produce. These can be individual citizens, as well as their associations: unions, collectives, associations. The purpose of their activities is to purchase goods and services, as well as to establish contacts with manufacturers on the basis of mutual benefit.

At the same time, for a businessman, the profitability of the transaction will determine the final income of the company, and for a much employee - the personal income received for the work performed. In addition, government agencies and institutions are involved in business relations. They implement nationwide programs to meet the needs of its citizens, and also carry out business regulation activities.

Business can be viewed as a system with distinctive properties: - expediency. It means that a certain direction is inherent in any element of the business, i.e. profit making; - integrity. This principle means that business is present in all areas where the goal is to increase profits. Business is a kind of environment that combines finance, marketing, management, law; - inconsistency. This principle means that business consists of contradictions between its elements: producers and consumers, employees and entrepreneurs, etc. These contradictions are factors in the development of business, strengthening its integrity; - activity implies that business is a social process associated with the participation of people. Their activity is expressed in personal and social wealth, living standards.
