Competent management analysis plays an important role in running any business. Finances, assortment, costs - all this requires constant attention and optimal use to achieve better results. Many decisions and implementation structure depend on assortment analysis.
Instructions
Step 1
Usually it is required to calculate the specific gravity of products by sales volume, as well as by the quantity sold. Knowing both indicators, you can determine the locomotives of sales and the goods that are in the price lists for the assortment. Also, on the basis of this information, strategic management decisions are made regarding the assortment policy and future production volumes or sales of each group of goods.
Step 2
To calculate the specific weight of products by revenue, divide the entire assortment into several product groups. Determine how much revenue in absolute terms comes from each product group. Then divide the revenue of each group by the total revenue. Convert the resulting numbers into percentages.
Step 3
To calculate the specific weight of products by quantity, follow the same steps. Divide the assortment into groups of similar goods, goods by suppliers or any other criterion. Divide the number of products in each group by the total number of product names. Thus, you will see the most numerous and smallest product groups.
Step 4
Usually, it is more effective to calculate the specific weight of products by their share in revenue. This is the basis of the ABC analysis, which allows you to determine the highest priority product groups in the overall assortment structure. It also results in a grouping of goods according to the degree of influence on the overall result.
