Each of us strives for well-being, including financial. We graduate from a prestigious university, are hired to work in a well-known company, but for some reason the salary is kept at the level "slightly above average". Why is this happening and how can you make money in the office?
Instructions
Step 1
Any company is always a hierarchical structure. Take a law firm for example. With the exception of the administrative and technical staff (secretaries, administrators), there are legal assistants or associate lawyers (lower tier), lawyers (middle), department heads (upper tier) and founding partners of the firm. If such a company has, for example, three departments, then, accordingly, there are three department heads. Each department employs several lawyers (say, five). Each lawyer usually has one or two assistants. Thus, most of all in the company are junior personnel, slightly less than average, and there are few managers, and there is a serious struggle for their places. If the transition from a junior position to a middle one is generally carried out without problems after several years of working in a junior position, then it is difficult to take a higher position. To make good money in an office, you need to get to a managerial position as quickly as possible, and therefore - be a careerist.
Step 2
What distinguishes a careerist from an ordinary worker? First, activity. This is a property of character, personality, and you can develop it in yourself only on your own, education and experience will not help here. An active person does not miss the opportunity to increase his “professional value” - he goes to seminars and trainings, reads professional literature, takes work at home, while others prefer to spend evenings on the couch or at friendly get-togethers.
Step 3
The second important quality is the ability to take initiative. If an ordinary performer simply tries to do his job well, then an enterprising employee will be able to look at this or that situation from different angles, make any rational proposal, not even from his field of activity.
Step 4
Do not forget about discipline. Ability to bring the started to the end on time, punctuality, strict appearance - all this is noticed and appreciated by employers.
Step 5
Not the least qualities will be loyalty and the ability to behave in the company. In offices, there are often various not always reasonable rules - for example, a strict dress code. A rule is a rule, it is better to follow it, rather than demonstratively walking without a tie, and discussing "these stupid rules" with colleagues during smoke breaks. It is also worth remembering that work is work, emotions and domestic troubles should be left at home. At work, it is better to give the impression of a balanced person who is always doing well.
Step 6
These rules may seem primitive at first glance. It would seem, what does what we discuss at lunchtime or on smoke breaks have to do with making money? In fact, if you look closely, a very small number of people comply with them. In addition, any management will always be more loyal to those who are active, disciplined and take the initiative, which will help make a career faster than others and, accordingly, earn more.
