Instructions

Step 1

In order to charge VAT on the amount of sold GWS, determine the tax rate that applies to your organization. The legislation of the Russian Federation establishes three VAT rates: 18%, 10% and 0%. The most commonly applied rate is 18%. A reduced 10% rate applies to certain food and baby products. Zero rate is used for export.

Step 2

To charge VAT on a certain amount means to increase it by the tax rate. To do this, first determine the amount of the tax itself in monetary terms. Multiply the amount of TRU sales by the tax rate (in decimal). For example, the amount of 18% tax on the amount of 200,000 rubles. calculated by the formula: 200,000 × 0, 18 = 36,000 (rub.)

Step 3

Add the estimated tax amount to the sales amount. 200,000 + 36,000 = 236,000 (rub.)

Step 4

Similarly, you can charge VAT on the amount in one action. To do this, multiply the sales amount by the value (1 + tax rate) in decimal terms. Using the numbers from the example, you will get the same result: 200,000 × 1, 18 = 236,000 (rub.)

Step 5

Often accountants need to do the opposite - to separate VAT from the amount. Knowing the current tax rate, it is quite easy to make the required calculation. To do this, divide the final amount by (100 + tax rate), and multiply the result by the tax rate in absolute terms. For example, to allocate 18% VAT from the amount of 300,000 rubles, make a calculation using the formula: 300,000 / (100 + 18) × 18 = 45,762.71 (rubles)
