It is common knowledge that American dollars depict portraits of US presidents. However, not everyone knows that there are banknotes on which people who have never held the presidency are depicted. They were simply outstanding personalities, and each of them made a significant contribution to the development and formation of the United States of America.
Instructions
Step 1
1 USD. The smallest paper bill depicts the first President of the United States - George Washington. This man is rightfully considered the founding father of the country. No wonder the capital of the United States is named in his honor. This legendary man was distinguished by his honesty, straightforwardness and adherence to principles. During the North American Colonial War of Independence, George Washington was the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army. The portrait of Washington is also featured on the 25 cent coin.
Step 2
US $ 2. This banknote depicts the third President of the United States - Thomas Jefferson. He was an outstanding political figure and took an active part in the first bourgeois revolution. Jefferson was one of the initiators of the separation of church and state. Reigned from March 4, 1801 to March 4, 1809. Jefferson's portrait is also on the 5 cent coin.
Step 3
USD 5. This bill depicts the 16th President of the United States - Abraham Lincoln. Lincoln became the first Republican president. He went down in US history as the liberator of American slaves. During his reign (1861-1865) slavery was abolished. During the American Civil War, Lincoln personally directed the hostilities that led to victory over the Confederate forces. Lincoln's portrait is also minted on a 1 cent coin.
Step 4
USD 10. This banknote depicts Alexander Hamilton, who was not president. From September 11, 1789 - January 31, 1795, Hamilton served as US Treasury Secretary. He pioneered the creation of the United States Central Bank. On the back of the ten-dollar bill, you can see the image of the Treasury building, which was founded by Hamilton himself.
Step 5
USD 20. Shown here is the 7th President of the United States - Andrew Jackson. He was one of the founders of the Democratic Party. Jackson was president of the United States from 1829-1837. Earlier, the portrait of Andrew Jackson was on denominations of 5, 10, 50 and even 10,000 dollars. By the way, the seventh US president himself was an ardent opponent of paper money. Perhaps that is why the G20 has now become the most frequently counterfeited banknote. Perhaps counterfeiters are "taking revenge" on Jackson for his dislike of paper bills.
Step 6
USD 50. This bill depicts the hero of the Civil War, the 18th President of the United States - Willis Grant. The years of his presidency are 1969-1877. The reverse of the “fifty kopeck piece” depicts the building of Congress in Washington. By the way, in 2005 it was proposed to put on a fifty-dollar bill a portrait of the former Hollywood actor and 40th US President - Ronald Wilson Reagan, but this idea was not supported.
Step 7
USD 100. This bill is the most valuable today. It depicts Benjamin Franklin, who was never the president of the United States, although he is signed on the Declaration of Independence and on the US Constitution. Franklin went down in history as a prominent politician, diplomat and journalist. Benjamin Franklin became the first American to become a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Step 8
Previously, bills were printed in denominations of 500, 1,000, 5,000, 10,000 and 100,000 dollars. These banknotes were mainly used in settlements that were carried out between banks. Since 1969, these bills have been withdrawn from circulation. The $ 500 bill depicts the 25th President of the United States, William McKinley, who became the last president to participate in the Civil War.
Step 9
The $ 1,000 bill depicts the 22nd and 24th President of the United States, Grover Cleveland. Under this Democratic president, the gold standard was restored. He was the only president in US history to hold this post twice (1885-1889 and 1893-1897).
Step 10
USD 5,000. Shown here is the 4th President of the United States - James Madison Jr. Jr., who was one of the key authors of the US Constitution. As president, Madison forbade any relationship with England. This decision was the reason for the outbreak of the war in 1812, during which the president showed himself as a strong and strong-willed person.
Step 11
USD 10,000. This bill depicts the head of the US Supreme Court - Samon Portland Chase. He was a staunch opponent of slavery and waged an active struggle against the influence of wealthy landowners in the southern states.
Step 12
USD 100,000. This tempting bill features the 28th President of the United States, Thomas Woodrow Wilson. Years of government - 1913-1921. Renowned historian and political scientist, 1919 Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
