The answer to the question of how much you should pay for water depends on your case. If you pay at a rate below which no tenant, in the opinion of public utilities, can use up water, to check the correctness of your invoices, you need to know this rate (say, in liters) and the price of a unit of measure (the same liter). Then one figure is multiplied by another and you get the amount that you have to pay for everyone registered in the apartment. To get the size of the total account, the result is multiplied by the number of registered ones.

In the presence of a general house meter, the calculation mechanism is more complex. The management company takes its readings, compares it with the previous measurement, and subtracts the data on the water consumption by the owners of apartment meters from this amount. And what remains is scattered over everyone who is registered in apartments where there are no meters.
The amount per person is then multiplied by the price of a liter and entered into the invoices. Theoretically, you can check the correctness of the calculation if you know all the necessary data. In practice, access to them is difficult.

If there is a water meter in the apartment, its tenants are required to provide the management company with their current readings in a timely manner. For control, you should keep a record of each readout from the devices transferred to the company, fixing them on paper or in a computer. By subtracting the last month's data from the last reading, you will know how much you spent in the last period. It remains to multiply this figure by the price of a liter of water.
