The Bank of Russia banknote with a face value of 1000 rubles is considered the most popular. It is most often counterfeited by counterfeiters. As a result, the interests of citizens suffer, and damage to the state is caused. To reduce the number of counterfeit banknotes, new banknotes with more degrees of protection are being issued. This allows you to reduce the amount of counterfeit money in circulation.
Common types of counterfeit banknotes
The simplest counterfeits are printed on color printers. They can be distinguished by the quality of the paper, lack of micro-printing, roughness in those places where the denomination of the bill is indicated with the help of the smallest holes. The color of such fakes can be very similar to real banknotes. The security tape can be imitated by sticking pieces of foil, the denomination of the bill is not visible to the light.
Elderly and visually impaired people can be given banknotes for change. They are sold in many gift shops. Used for practical jokes and fun gifts at various celebrations. Their feature is smooth glossy paper. It feels very different from real money to the touch.
Signs of authenticity
Each banknote has several different security levels. They can be divided into two groups: machine-readable and visually identifiable. You can check the first one only on banking equipment or using special detectors. The second group includes those that can be seen.
The Bank of Russia recommends checking at least three signs to ensure the authenticity of the banknote. Anyone can easily check them, knowing how a real 1,000 rubles should look like. Currently, there are 3 modifications of banknotes of the 1997 sample in cash circulation. They were put into circulation in 2001, 2004, 2010. They all have several common features of authenticity.
1. In the light, you can see the security thread, which is embedded in the paper. On it are the inscriptions "CBR 1000", which are repeated alternately in a straight line, then in an inverted form.
2. On the reverse side, along the edges, there is a small pattern made with the finest lines in the form of geometric shapes. After copying a banknote, it may blur and the image looks like a solid spot.
3. In the upper and lower reverse sides of the banknote there are two lines made of several stripes. They depict the small continuously repeating text "CBR 1000". On counterfeit money, it can blur and it is impossible to read it.
4. Drawings of both sides of the 1000 bill are aligned with each other, while the uncolored fragments of one will be filled with the color of the elements of the opposite side.
5. For the visually impaired, it is possible to determine by touch one of the signs of authenticity. On the front side, the words "BANK OF RUSSIA TICKET" and several geometric elements at the bottom right stand out in relief.
6. Along the edges of the banknote in the light you can see watermarks depicting Yaroslav the Wise and the denomination of the banknote. You can see smooth transitions from light to dark areas of the image.
All images are made with waterproof paints. If moisture gets in, they should not blur. The new banknotes have a characteristic crunch, the paper that has been in circulation for a long time becomes softer, but in any of them it is slightly rough to the touch. Real banknotes cannot have a glossy smooth surface.
For banknotes issued in 2001, the image of the Bank's emblem changes color. Those that came into circulation in 2004 and 2010 change the color of the image of a bear, there is an image of the denomination, made in the form of the smallest holes. The place where the micro-perforated area is located does not differ from the rest of the bill surface to the touch.
