The modern media market is very rich and diverse. New editions appear almost constantly. Today almost everyone can create their own magazine or newspaper.
Instructions
Step 1
The first thing to start with when deciding to open your own publication is the choice of subject matter. Your media may have a narrow focus (wedding, automotive, legal, children's, etc.) or cover events and problems from different walks of life.
Step 2
The second step follows quite logically from the first. Having chosen a topic, you need to decide on the target audience. Ask yourself the question: "Who might be interested in this?" In order to assess the situation more objectively, you can conduct a survey among people of different sex, age and social status, find out who is more sympathetic to the idea of your publication.
Step 3
The number and direction of advertising presented on the page directly depends on the subject and audience of the publication. Different readers should be approached differently. A publication aimed at children should not have a lot of advertising, as this can cause negative reactions from parents. And if, for example, your target audience should be adult men with a high income, then advertising for expensive cars, fashionable men's clothing, elite alcohol, etc. will be appropriate.
Step 4
Immediately decide what the main income of the publication will be. Basically, print media pay off through the sale of advertising pages and circulation sales. It should be noted that advertising revenues are much higher than the sales revenues of the publication itself. Many modern publications are generally distributed free of charge, existing only on advertising money.
Step 5
To release the first (pilot) issue, you need a certain starting capital. Once you have a test copy in your hands, you can start looking for sponsors and advertisers. Your task is to interest a potential client or sponsor, to convey to him the idea that your publication is very promising and that it is absolutely necessary to work with you. Not all potential advertisers can be met in person, as it will take too long. Make a competent and interesting commercial proposal, describe in it all the characteristics of the publication and the terms of cooperation. Send the offer to potential partners, then call them back and ask if they are interested. Then continue working with interested clients and look for new ones.
