The legislation of the Russian Federation provides for the possibility of returning the paid income tax by an individual. Certain categories of taxpayers can qualify for a social tax deduction: homeowners, mortgage borrowers who pay for tuition or treatment, make pension contributions, and so on. To get a tax refund, you need to go through a simple bureaucratic procedure.

Instructions

Step 1

Get a certificate of income in the form of 2-NDFL at your place of work. Fill out a tax return on the 3-NDFL form, in which indicate all income received in the past reporting period.

Step 2

Determine if you are eligible for a tax deduction. To do this, you need to get from the tax office or find on the Internet a table with a list of tax deductions, indicating the requirements and conditions for their registration. Prepare a set of documents that are required to return the paid tax to an individual.

Step 3

Write two statements addressed to the head of the local tax office. In the first application, indicate that you are eligible for a tax deduction and would like to apply for it. The second application is intended for the return of paid income tax. At the same time, do not forget to indicate the details of your personal account, to which the required amount will be transferred.

Step 4

Submit your tax return, statements and required documents. They can be handed over to the inspector personally against signature or sent by mail, which is more preferable. In the second option, you need to send a registered mail item with a list of attachments. Be sure to keep your shipping receipt, which you will need in case you lose your documents.

Step 5

Wait until the end of the cameral tax audit, which is carried out within three months from the date of filing the tax return. After that, you will receive a written message, which will inform you about the provision of tax deduction or indicate the reasons for refusal. In practice, this procedure can take from 4 to 16 months.

Step 6

Receive the refund amount to your taxpayer's current bank account, which you indicated in the application. It should be noted that an individual has the right to claim income tax refund within 3 years.
