Have you decided to open your own recording studio? You can do this at home, but then the quality of the created material will not be the best. Therefore, for commercial purposes, you will have to rent or build premises that are ideally suited to the specifics of the task.
If you have not worked in this area, invite a studio designer who already has some experience. He will be able to help you both with the choice of the room and with the subsequent design. The place where the studio will be located should not be in a noisy part of the city. Better to choose a residential area, suburb, or even a nearby village.
It is desirable that the building be brick. You should not rent a room on high floors. The disadvantages are that there will be additional costs for sound insulation and grounding. The first floor or semi-basement is the best solution.
The next step is good grounding and electrical connections. It is advisable to completely replace the electrical wiring in the old room. This will protect you from short circuits and unexpected breakdowns, which can lead to serious damage to expensive equipment, studio shutdown and unexpected repairs.
The room should be well soundproofed, without strong acoustics inside. To isolate the studio, carpets are laid on the floor, the walls are upholstered with carpet, cork or foam rubber. But don't forget about aesthetics. Remember that musicians need to feel comfortable in the studio, so looks are important.
Then - the purchase of the necessary equipment. In order to produce a quality product, it is better not to save on equipment. You will need: a mixing console or mixing console, multiple microphones on a stand, software, sound card, studio monitors, headphones. If you are not a professional, then when choosing, be sure to consult with one, otherwise you run the risk of acquiring not quite suitable equipment.
For the full-fledged work of the studio, the following personnel are needed: sound engineer, sound engineer, arranger. The sound engineer works on the mixing and controls the sound level. An arranger is needed in order to select the rhythm of the melody, its timbre, perhaps even change the basic sound. The sound engineer is doing test recordings. His duties are recording control and sound editing. As a result of his work, the final version of the phonogram is obtained.
And the last, but also important point is the arrangement of the rest room. Make sure that there are upholstered furniture and a kettle in the room. Musicians shouldn't have any problems if they suddenly want to have a snack, drink coffee or just relax. Organize a comfortable bathroom.
Run a small ad campaign in the appropriate circles. And your studio will start making a profit in the very near future.
