Russian legislation has certain requirements and restrictions on opening and using accounts in other countries. In this regard, before contacting a foreign bank, it is worth knowing all the nuances of the procedure for opening an account for residents of the Russian Federation.
Instructions
Step 1
Study the Instruction of the Bank of the Russian Federation No. 100-I of August 29, 2001 "On accounts of resident individuals in banks outside the Russian Federation". It states that it is possible to open an account only in a foreign bank located in a country that is a member of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) or the Special Financial Commission on Capital Laundering Problems "FATF". These organizations are called upon to combat transfers of illegally received funds.
Step 2
Select the foreign bank where you want to open an account. Send a request by phone or e-mail with a request to send you a list of documents required for this operation. Moreover, you must have valid foreign and Russian passports.
Step 3
Fill out the form and application. Provide detailed information about yourself, sources of income, place of residence and purpose of opening an account. The questionnaire will also ask you to describe your personal investment preferences. Specify the list of services that you want to use, the amount of investment and the term of use, as well as experience in working with financial investments.
Step 4
Send all necessary documents to the bank by e-mail. In some cases, you will need to appear in person, for example, if you want to receive a payment card on the account. Receive confirmation of opening a bank account and details for transferring funds. Please note that transfers can only be made after informing the tax office.
Step 5
Notify the tax office of your place of residence about opening an account abroad. The notification is drawn up in a special form in duplicate and submitted within one month from the date of opening the account. Verification of the authenticity of the specified information takes approximately five days, after which you will receive back one copy of the letter with a special mark. Only the presence of this permission allows you to legally transfer funds to foreign accounts.
