A currency detector is a device that is used to read machine-readable security signs of authenticity of banknotes. The introduction of such equipment allows you to quickly and efficiently check the authenticity of a bill and identify a counterfeit.
Types of currency detectors
The equipment for checking the authenticity of banknotes is divided into two categories: viewing and automatic.
View detector
A device that is based on various principles of detection, and the operator makes a conclusion about the authenticity of funds. Sighting detectors are easy to use, versatile and inexpensive. According to the principle of detection, such devices are divided into ultraviolet, infrared and universal.
Ultraviolet detectors
The principle of operation is based on the highlighting of the fluorescent marks of the banknotes in ultraviolet rays, which begin to glow. And vice versa - some parts of genuine banknotes do not glow in radiation, unlike counterfeits. This type of detectors is notable for its low price, but its degree of protection is rather low.
Infrared detectors
Infrared detection is considered a very reliable method for verifying authenticity of banknotes. Such equipment displays banknotes in infrared radiation on the built-in screen. Each genuine banknote is marked with an invisible mark that appears in infrared radiation. The disadvantages of this type of detectors include the high cost and the possibility of cashier error when working with it.
Universal detector
Such a viewing universal currency detector operates using an IR camera, UV lamps, backlight, magnetic sensors, a magnifying glass, and a measuring scale. The price of such equipment is quite high, but the level of verification will be of higher quality.
Automatic detector
A detector that does not depend on a person when deciding on the authenticity of banknotes. The device has high accuracy and uses several test parameters: infrared, ultraviolet, magnetic, optical density, geometric, spectral analysis of paint. The price for such devices is higher than for viewing devices. The machine decides on the authenticity of the banknotes by giving a sound signal, indication and information on the screen, which eliminates the possibility of an error associated with a human factor.
When choosing an automatic detector, you need to pay attention to the number of currencies that it is capable of checking: there are single-currency detectors, and there are multicurrency ones. The inconvenience of such equipment is the need to feed banknotes one by one in a given order, however, there is equipment with an automatic feeding function. Such detectors are equipped with an auxiliary function for determining the value and summing up the total. The price for such devices is higher than for other detectors. However, it will be justified by the maximum quality of banknote verification.
