It is quite easy to withdraw the final balance on active and passive accounts, knowing certain rules. However, it should be noted that the final balance of the so-called active-passive accounts is calculated in a slightly different way.
Instructions
Step 1
So, in order to find the final balance on active and passive accounts, add the turnover indicator to the balance indicator at the beginning of the working month, which is located in the same part of the account right below the balance. And subtract the circulating figure that is on the other side of the account. As a result, you will receive the final balance for the reporting month and the balance indicator at the beginning of the next month.
Step 2
For simplicity, use a formula that summarizes what was described above: CK = Cn ± (D - K). CK and SN - the initial and final balance, D and K - debit and credit turnovers. With an active account, there will be a plus in front of the bracket, with a passive one - a minus.
Step 3
To calculate the closing balance for groups of active / passive accounts that are intended for settlement relationships with various customers and vendors, use a different rule.
Step 4
To do this, add the opening balance indicator with the turnover, which appears in the account on the same side as the opening balance. The positive result will be the final balance, which is located in the same part of the account as the opening. Negative will mean that the balance will move to the other side of the account.
Step 5
If you do not have data on the opening balance on the active-passive account, then determine the final balance by comparing the monthly turnover and reflecting it in the part of the account where the turnover indicator is higher. The expanded balance cannot be displayed in the usual way in active-passive accounts. This will require analytical accounting data.
Step 6
Please note that the universal formula for calculating the final balance for any account looks like this: Ck = D - K ± Cn. The sign of the opening balance will be positive if this indicator is in the debit part of the account and negative, if it is in the opposite, that is, in the credit.
