Experienced lawyers often think about going "free float" - to open their own law office. This can be either a law firm, or a law office or a collegium. Despite the fact that the legal services market is very saturated, such a business, with the right choice of the field of jurisprudence, can bring a fairly high income.
Instructions
Step 1
Setting up a legal office is a rather complicated business that requires a lot of investment. Moreover, it will be both money (rent for an office in a good location, computers, software), and talents and abilities that you will need to determine your niche, find clients and select qualified specialists.
Step 2
It is better for even the smallest legal office to have a cozy office not far from the city center, since often meetings with clients take place in the office of lawyers. Not every client will travel to the other end of the city: time is expensive, and there are too many more famous offices located in the center. Therefore, it is worth looking for an office in a conveniently located mansion or business center. A newly opened company will have enough office space of 45-50 sq.m.
Step 3
In addition to furniture and office equipment, it is important to purchase proper software for the office. Not a single legal office works now without such programs as "Guarantor" or "Consultant +". In addition, if you are dealing with documents from foreign companies, you will need dictionaries.
Step 4
The wealth of a law firm is its employees. To get started, you need 2-3 highly qualified lawyers and an assistant legal secretary. It is not worth recruiting young specialists: they are not yet too experienced to provide quality services, and mistakes can greatly damage the reputation of a newly opened company.
Step 5
Think about the distribution of profits between you and your employees. There should not be too many partners (i.e. those who participate in the company's profits) - a law firm can be opened by two or three people, and the rest of the specialists can be hired for a salary or salary + percent of completed orders. The latter is optimal for a new law firm, as it motivates lawyers to work harder and you to seek more clients.
Step 6
Decide in which area you can work most successfully yourself and services in which area are most in demand. There are quite a few law firms that do the same thing, for example company registration. To stay in business, they have to cut prices, try to provide new services. It is better to single out for yourself 2-3 main areas of work that will not be so "popular". Accordingly, you will have fewer competitors.
Step 7
If you are a lawyer, then you can create a law office or a bar association, if you do not have this status, then your business is a law firm. Different forms have their own advantages and disadvantages, therefore, after defining the areas of activity, it is worth thinking about the form in which your office will exist. Exhaustive information about lawyers' formations is provided by the Federal Law "On Lawyer Activity and the Bar".
