The consumer basket is a fixed list of food and non-food goods and services necessary for a person to live. It is differentiated by categories of the population - for workers, pensioners and children. This list is an appendix to the federal law "On the consumer basket as a whole in the Russian Federation in 2011-2012".
Instructions
Step 1
Currently, the food basket includes only 11 food groups, about a hundred non-food products and a minimum number of services, its composition and volume remained the same as provided for by a similar law adopted on March 21, 2006. The grocery basket, according to the list attached to the law, will differ for each region due to the existing price difference, primarily for food. To calculate the value of a basket of goods in your area, you need to know the average cost of the products included in it.
Step 2
First of all, collect statistical information about the cost of food - bread, cereals, potatoes, fruits, vegetables, meat, eggs, fish, milk, vegetable oil. Focus on their cost in stores. Prices in large chain stores, where their cost is lower due to large bulk quantities of goods, will be optimal for the calculation. Multiply the average unit cost by the consumption rate for each population category.
Step 3
Calculate the cost of non-food items according to the list approved by law. It takes into account the different needs of categories of the population for some goods. So, school writing utensils are relied on for a year in the amount of 27 pieces of goods, and the rest of the categories - 3 pieces each. The cost of essential drugs, which is calculated as a percentage of the total cost of non-food items per month, is 15% for pensioners, 12% for children, and 10% for the working-age population.
Step 4
Calculate the cost of the food basket in terms of services provided - housing and utility bills, transportation costs, cultural events in accordance with the norms indicated in the list. In this section, equal norms are established for all categories of citizens, excluding transport services, which are somewhat reduced for children and pensioners.
Step 5
By adding the results of the calculation for all groups of goods and services, you will receive the cost of the food basket in your city.
