The Tax Free system (from English "no tax") means the refund of the amount of value added tax to tourists who buy goods when entering the countries of the European Union, England and a number of others. Receiving money has its own structure.
Instructions
Step 1
Make your purchase at a retailer that is participating in the tourist tax refund program. Such places are marked with easily recognizable white and blue stickers on the facades. The purchase amount, from which the tax refund begins, varies from thirty to one hundred and forty euros (the amount and currency depends on a specific country, you can check it with store sellers).
Step 2
Provide the seller with your passport and ask for a refund under the Tax Free system for tourists. He will take care of filling out a Tax Free check, which will contain the following data: purchase amount, tax amount, last name, first name, patronymic of the buyer, address and number of his identity document. From the store, you need to take a check, a Tax Free check and your purchases in order to later return part of the money spent.
Step 3
It is not recommended to open packages, put on or remove tags from clothing prior to tax refund. The fact is that valiant servants of the law may want to check the correctness of the checks and ask you to show your purchases. Therefore, the most correct option would be to create a separate bag or package for all the goods from the purchase of which you wish to receive a tax refund. The customs officer will check the amounts on the checks, have a quick look at the things and put a stamp on the papers.
Step 4
Go to the Cash Refund office. You can find out the location of such offices from the shop assistants. One of them will definitely be located at the airport, so it is quite possible to postpone this procedure until the very departure and top up your wallet right before boarding the plane.
Step 5
Ask the airport staff where you can get VAT refunds and go to customs. The office can be located both before and after passport control, and it is better to find out in advance. For example, if you pass it, and the office is behind, you will not have a way back. After receiving the seal on the reverse side of the check, go to the direction of the Cash Refund branch, marked with the same white and blue color, present the checks and receive your money (they are issued in cash, in the currency of the country in which you are located).
Step 6
If you have not managed to return the value added tax spent in a foreign country before departure, you can do it within your own country. Ask any travel agency which banks are participating in the tourist money back program and go there with the same checks.
