Recently, the procedure for payment and calculation of transport tax has changed. If earlier car owners independently calculated the required amount, now control over the payment of tax was entrusted to the tax inspectorate. As a result, there were some problems associated with late receipt of receipts.
Instructions
Step 1
Get notified when you need to pay road tax. According to Art. 362 and 363 of the Tax Code of the Russian Federation, the GIBBD is obliged to submit information about the registration of the vehicle with the tax authority within 10 days. Based on the data received, the inspectors calculate the amount of tax and send the corresponding receipt to the car owner by June 1 of the current year.
Step 2
Pay the claimed amount of vehicle tax before the due date, which is determined by the local authority. As a rule, the deadline expires on January 20 of the following year. However, practice has shown that such a system is not very efficient. In many cases, car owners do not receive payment notification for a variety of reasons: unsatisfactory mail operation or untimely processing of information by the tax service. As a result, you can be held liable for non-payment of road tax.
Step 3
Contact the tax office for a receipt for payment. Tell the inspector that you have not received any notifications and would like to expedite the tax rate calculation process. If you are lucky, you will be told the required amount immediately. Otherwise, they will mark your appeal.
Step 4
Calculate the amount of transport tax yourself, if the receipt was not received within the required time frame. To do this, you need to determine the age of the car and the amount of horsepower. This information can be found in the vehicle passport or in the registration certificate.
Step 5
Check the road tax rates table for your area, which can be obtained from the tax office or found on the city's website. Multiply the rate by the amount of horsepower. The resulting value is the transport tax, which must be paid in the current year.
